The Village of Goreville is a Trustee-Village form of Municipal Government and is non-home rule. The Village President or Mayor and Village Clerk are elected at large. The Mayor serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees and performs certain duties as defined by the Village Code, which is local law, or by state statutes. The legislative body consists of six trustees, elected from the Village at large. The term of the Mayor, Trustees and Clerk is four years. The Village Treasurer is appointed.
